Jerry James “Jerbear” Tobin

POLO – Jerry James “Jerbear” Tobin, age 40, of Polo, passed away in his home on March 17, 2022. Jerry was born in West Frankfort, Ill., on Jan. 7, 1982, the son of Paul and Deborah (Murphy) Tobin.  

Jerry grew up in Chana, and loved being outside. He loved life and being with his family.  Jerry’s daughters Adrianna and Leah where his world. He always had a smile on his face especially when riding his Harley with Julie. He was a great cook, just like his mom, and loved making meals for his family; “the spicier the better” he always said. Jerry also loved camping, boating, and traveling. His favorite past times were watching Leah play basketball and jamming out to music in his Mustang with Adrianna. It was always said that he was able to fix anything. Jerry also loved his dog, Carl. Jerry was sprinkler fitter for Local 281 with S.J. Fire, however, he also DJed for many years. Jerry will be missed dearly.

Jerry is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bernard and Betty Murphy, grandmother Caroline Tobin, grandfather Paul Bear Martin, and uncles Randy Lee Pigg and Louis Lopez. 

Jerry is survived by his parents Paul and Deborah Tobin of Chan, daughters Adrianna and Leah Tobin of Polo, sister Amanda Tobin of Oregon, nieces Zoe Prascak and Mila Tobin both of Oregon, fiancé Julie Cornett Hensley and her children Bradley and Bailey and grandson, Kolten. Also survived by grandparents Jerry and Eula Pigg of Johnston City Ill., and Mike Tobin, Sr. of Bryon, aunts Jerry (Dave) Shoemake, of Johnston City Ill., Anita Morgan of Knoxville, Tenn., Rose (Jim) Lorden of Byron, and Robin Lopez of Oklahoma; uncles Ronnie Pigg of Johnston City, Ill., and Mike Tobin Jr. of Boston, Mass., and many cousins.

Funeral services were held Tuesday March 22, 2022 at 11 a.m. in the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th St., Oregon, IL 61061 with Rev. David Rogula officiating. Burial in Daysville Cemetery. Visitation was held Monday at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m..
