LEAF RIVER – Judith Irene Conkey, age 80, died peacefully at her home in Leaf River surrounded by her loving family. She was born Nov. 20, 1940 in Rockford, the daughter of Elmer and Ona (Cherry) Norup.
Judy attended Leaf River Schools. She married Kenneth H. Conkey on May 10, 1968 in Rockford. Together they lived in Anchorage, Alaska from 1974-2001 prior to moving to Leaf River. She was a member of the Freeport Church of Christ.
Judy was predeceased by her parents, her husband Kenneth, her daughter Peggy Kretsinger, her brother Bill Norup, and her brother-in-law Donald Hunziker.
She is survived by her longtime companion Donald Myers of Adeline, her son Kenneth (Kim) Conkey, Jr. of Roscoe, her daughter Pam Snow of Anchorage, Alaska, her 3 granddaughters; Mandy Puzon of Anchorage, Alaska, Lindsey Conkey of Roscoe, and Stephanie Conkey of Anchorage, Alaska, 2 Great Grandchildren Eliana Roque, and Marquis Parks, her brother John (Joan) Norup of Crystal River, Ill., her 2 sisters; Joan Hunziker of Freeport, and Deb Lambert of Leaf River, her sister-in-law Marie Norup of Leaf River, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 20, 2021 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 506 W. Merchant Street in Byron, with Jeff White from the Freeport Church of Christ officiating. Visitation was from 5-7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home in Byron. Burial in the Byron Cemetery. A memorial fund is established for the American Cancer Society.
