Byron – Karen D. Anderson-Plum, age 80, passed away on Nov. 25, 2020 at Generations at Neighbors in Byron. She was born on Oct. 5, 1940 in Wilmett, Ill., the daughter of Harold and Violet (Christianson) Goettler.
She married David Plumb on May 1, 1988. Karen was driven at her career in social work starting at Marion Joy Children’s Hospital and then the Rockford school system. She had a very kind heart and was drawn to troubled kids who just needed a little extra attention. She was a great listener and truly cared about other people’s feelings. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Byron. Karen loved travelling the world with her husband.
She is survived by her husband, David of Byron; stepchildren, Christopher Plum, Rob (Kathleen) Plum, and Randy Plum; brother, Martin (Patricia) Goettler; sisters, Marney (Fred) Bryden, Paula (Fred) Batt, Linda (Bill) Paul, Christine (Michael) Catania; 7 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
