STILLMAN VALLEY – Leona H. Henning, age 89, died Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Pinecrest Terrace surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 5th, 1932 in Stillman Valley, the daughter of August and Amanda (Maas) Lewis.
She graduated from Stillman Valley High School in 1950. She married Ronald Henning on June 2, 1956 at the Ebenezer Reformed Church near Oregon. Leona worked at the Illinois National Bank in Rockford for 8 years. She was a cook at Highland Grade School and Stillman Valley High School for 19 years. She retired in 1998 and worked 7 more years at Casey’s General store. She loved to cook, camp, play cards, crochet, and be with her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents (August and Amanda) and husband (Ronald).
Survived by her 3 children; Greg (Martha) Henning of Sycamore, Rhonda (Robert) Waggoner of Winnebago, and Randy (Liz) Henning of Rockton; grandchildren; Nicholas (Kaleigh) Henning, Christopher Henning, Julia Henning, Zachary Henning, Michael (Caryn) Waggoner, Melissa (Mark) Simmons, and Megan (Michael) Moseley; and 7 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jaxen, and Jasen Simmons, McKenna, Mia, and Maverick Moseley and Samantha Henning; brother; Ronald (Cherry) Lewis of Stillman Valley; niece; Candy (Scott) Beck; nephew; Ronald (Debbie) Lewis.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Monday, June 14, 2021 at the Ebenezer Reformed Church on German Church Road near Oregon, with the Pastor Charles Waggoner officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10 -11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at the Ebenezer Cemetery. A memorial fund is established in Leona’s name for Pinecrest Terrace.
