FRANKLIN GROVE – Marian Ione Blumeyer-Barry, age 96, died Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the Franklin Grove Living & Rehab Center.  She was born March 12, 1923 in Pine Rock Twp., the daughter of John E. and Carrie (Canode) Schier. 

She graduated from Oregon High School in 1941. Marian married Alvin Blumeyer on July 9, 1943 in Love Field, Dallas, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1997. She married Allen Barry on Aug. 18, 2004 in Oregon. He preceded her on Oct. 24, 2013. Marian worked for Kable News in Mount Morris, then over 20 years for NIU Lorado Taft Campus as a cook, and then for Tri-county Home Health Care. She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Paynes Point, and the Oregon VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to boot scoot line dance, and be in her garden. 

She was predeceased by her parents, sisters; Lillian Guernsey, Anna Mae Fisher, Vera Milliman, Agnes Heller, brothers; Francis and Gene Schier, and infant brother Robert.

She is survived by her daughter Dixie (Terry) Hurless of Chandler, Ariz., 2 sons; Francis “Butch” (Bonnie) Blumeyer of Oregon, and Ronald (Angie) Blumeyer of Mount Morris, 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services was 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Paynes Point with the Rev. Andrew Kayes pastor of the church officiating. Burial in the Church cemetery. Visitation was from 5-7 p.m. Monday evening at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th Street, Oregon, IL. 61061. In lieu of flowers a memorial may be made in Marian’s name to the charity of choice.
