MOUNT MORRIS – Marilyn K. Pazera, age 79, of Mt. Morris, passed away on April 6, 2021 in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, after a battle with COVID-19. She was born on March 28, 1942 in Sandwich, the daughter of Howard and Ruth (Brown) Baker.
Marilyn grew up on a farm near Leland, Ill., and graduated from Leland High School class of 1960. She received her bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, in 1965. Marilyn married John Pazera on Feb. 5, 1966 in Leland.
Marilyn spent many years working at Kable News Company in Mt. Morris before retiring in 2007. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mt. Morris, a board member and volunteer at Loaves & Fish Food Pantry, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Marilyn enjoyed reading, gardening, quilting, genealogy, and playing bridge. She enjoyed making chocolate chip cookies for friends and family, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Marilyn is survived by her husband: John Pazera, Mt. Morris; daughter: Kathryn (Bob Rapp) Pazera, Oregon; son: John Pazera, Mt. Morris; sister: Janet O’Neil, Marshall, Wis.; brother: Kenneth (Penny) Baker, Leland; and many nieces and nephews.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents.
Due to COVID-19 cremation rites have been accorded with Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris. A private family service will be held. Celebration of life will be held later this summer.
