BYRON – Marion Elaine Nelson, 75, of Byron, died suddenly Tuesday, July 27, 2021 in her home. Born Dec. 11, 1945 in Rockford, the daughter of Gilbert and Elizabeth (Keep) Johnson.
Married to Harold Nelson Nov. 27, 1964 in Rockford. Marion was a 1963 graduate of Auburn High School and retired from Amerock Corp. of Rockford after 25 years of employment. She enjoyed her time volunteering for Helping You Help Yourself food pantry in Byron. Marion was a witty and spicy woman who liked coffee and conversation, visiting the gaming boats, bingo and garage sale-ing and was helpful to all. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and traveling with her sisters and special niece, Cindy.
Survived by her husband, Harold “Harry” Nelson of Byron; sons, Steve (fiancé, Gayla) Nelson and Bob (April) Nelson, both of Rockford; daughter, Beth Nelson of Rockford; grandchildren: Lucas, Maxwell, Emily and Kendal; great -grandchildren: Haedyn, Odyn and Ju’leah; and sister, Beverly Richardson of Fairdale.
Preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
A Celebration of Life for Marion will be held 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15 at the Monroe Center Fire Station. Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Byron assisted the family.
