Mary Catherine (Boehm) Hermann of Killeen, Texas passed away at her home on Sept. 8, 2021. Mary was born on Oct. 15, 1955 in Rockford Illinois to Robert and Norma Boehm. She was raised in Byron and graduated from Byron High School in May of 1973. She attended Rock Valley College from 1973-1975 where she met her husband and the love of her life, Dan Hermann. They were married on June 6, 1976. Dan was in the Army so they lived in numerous places over the years, including California, Illinois, Germany, Georgia and Texas. She enjoyed traveling and learning about new places.
Mary loved being a mom to her four sons – Daniel, Timothy, Michael and Andrew and a grandmother to her granddaughter McKenzie. Throughout the years she operated a daycare in her home, ran a cake decorating and cookie baking business and volunteered at the local high school supporting various activities, particularly the band. After her children finished school, she stayed on at the Shoemaker High School as a volunteer for the high school band. She was known as the ‘Band Mom’ and the ‘Cookie Lady’ by many of the students.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Norma Boehm.
She is survived by her husband Dan of Killeen, Texas; her sons Daniel Hermann of Temple, Texas; Timothy Hermann of Killeen, Texas; Michael Hermann of Killeen, Texas; USAF Lt. Andrew Hermann of Massachusetts; and a granddaughter McKenzie of Killeen, Texas. She is also survived by her eight sisters and brother: Carol Boehm, Green Bay, Wis.; Kathy (Erich) Roth, Byron; John Boehm, Tulsa, Okla.; Betty Boehm (Ross McCracken), Pinedale, Wyo.; Patricia (Eric) Fairbanks, Boulder, Wyo.; Linda (Tim) Smith, Green Bay, Wis.; Donna Boehm (John DiPasquale), Bucksport, Maine; Margie (Gail) Watson, Mountain Home, Id.; Jeannette (Steve) Stender, Ashton; and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at 10 a.m. on Oct.15, 2021. The service will be held at The Texas Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Killeen, Texas.
