OREGON – Mary Katherine Leddy passed away on February 12, 2020. Mary was born on Dec. 15, 1930 on a farm in Crary, N.D. Her father, Frank Suski, was a share cropper at the time and were forced out by the events of the dust bowl era.
Loading a flatbed truck with all of their belongings and six children, the family moved to Rockford in 1936. Mary had 12 brothers and sisters. She married Robert J. Leddy Sr. in 1948 and had two sons, Robert J. Leddy Jr. and Kenneth E. Leddy. Mary was an Oregon resident and member of the Presbyterian church since 1948.
Mary was a kind generous person to everyone she met. She loved having her yard full of many species of birds. Her property was dotted with bird houses, feeders and flower patches. She loved dogs and children and her family was very important to her. She was quite a unique person with her off the wall sense of humor, and manner. She loved nature and would rather be outside than in, tending her flowers, or in the garage stripping copper wire for salvage. She loved to travel and see other places. Mary had 12 brothers and sisters, a myriad of nieces and nephews, two sons, five grandchildren, eight great-grand kids and three great-great grands.
There will be a memorial service on Feb. 29 at 2 p.m. at the Oregon Presbyterian Church, 121 S. 4th St., Oregon.
