Matthew Scott Herbig passed away early on June 15, at his home in Troy, Mont. Matt was born in Rockford on Nov. 26, 1991 to Bonnie (Lawson) and Kevin Herbig, and was a 2010 graduate of L-P High School in LaSalle.

He had a successful career as a Union Millright. Matthew loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman, hunter and explorer. He loved his family, and will be remembered for his big smile & kind ways.

Matthew is preceded in death by his grandfather, Ellsworth “Sonny” Herbig, and his grandfather, Richard “Dick” Inskeep.

Matthew is survived by many: His best friend and father, Kevin Herbig and partner, Teresa Wilson, both of Troy, Montana. Her children, Rachel (Guether) and Kody Foote, and Jared Guether. his Grandmother, Donna (Bolthouse) Herbig, of Byron, his beloved mother and step-father, Bonnie (Lawson) and Tim Inskeep, of Dunnellon, Fla., his sister and brother in law, Katy (Webber) & Brent Boubelik, & niece, Juliana Bigham, & nephew, Blaine Boubelik, of Byron, his Step-Sister, Jennifer (Inskeep) Carroll, & nephew Scott Escatel, of Covington, Ga., his Grandfather, John “Ted” & Jeanette Lawson, of Oregon, his Grandmother, Natalie “Lee” (Newburg) Lawson, of Dunnellon, Fla.,  his Grandmother, Sue Inskeep, of Dunnellon, Fla. Matthew has many aunts, uncles and cousins all over the country, who are blessed to know he's in the arms of Jesus.

A private service for the immediate family was held on June 20, at Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home, in nearby Libby, Montana.

Plans for future Celebrations of his Life will be announced by his family at a later date.

In Lieu of flowers, Matt's family asks that you spend time with your loved ones. Put on some music & play a game! Go on an Adventure... bring a kayak & a fishing rod! And when you hear a Cricket singing by a river, remember Matthew.
