CHANA – Michael S. Kump, age 63, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022 at his home near Chana. He was born May 28, 1958 in Rockford, the son of Evert L. “Sam” and Jean E. (Cook) Kump.

He was a lifelong member of the Chana and Oregon area. Mike graduated from Oregon High School in 1976 where he was a standout athlete at Oregon High School, where he played football, basketball and exceled in track. He was an excellent high jumper, ran relays, long jump, did it all for the Oregon Hawks Track Team. He married Vickie Hosier who predeceased him in 2020. He formerly worked for Quality Metal in Byron, Dayton Superior as a concrete mixer and most recently for Etnyre Corporation in Oregon, where he retired a year ago after 16 years as a “Lead” Trailer Welder.

Mike had a love of animals. He leaves behind his beloved brown lab "Ratchet" and "Willie" the cat. He was a kind and giving friend to all that knew him. He was very generous and would always lend a helping hand in any way he could with everyone. After he retired, his happy place was spending time around the firepit in his back yard where you could find him with friends drinking beer and solving the world’s problems. He will be “so” missed.

Mike was predeceased by his father Sam and his wife Vickie.

He is survived by his mother Jean Kump of Franklin Grove, his sister Deborah Donahue of Anchorage, Alaska and her 3 children; Meghan Antonucci of Marysville, Washington, Ryan Donahue of Anchorage, Alaska, and Cameron Donahue of Spokane, Washington.
