Nancy L. Schumacher


OREGON – Nancy L. Schumacher, age 78, passed away in her home surrounded by her loving family on Dec. 14, 2019. She was born in Oregon on Aug. 12, 1941 the daughter of Bert and Pearl (Cox) Himes.

She married Waynes “Tacky” Schumacher on March 28, 1958 in Lindenwood; he preceded her in death on March 12, 2014. Nancy worked at Neighbors Nursing Home in Byron and also as a cook and in maintenance at the Ogle County Correctional Center. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Paynes Point. Nancy had a zest for life and her family will remember her strength and hard-fought battle during her health troubles. She was passionate about spending time with her grandchildren and attending family gatherings and trips. In her spare time, she loved going to the casino and playing the slot machines.

She is survived her children, Connie Schumacher of Ashton, Dawn Pankhurst of Mount Morris, Ronald (Rhonda Streich) Schumacher of Forreston, Wesley Schumacher of Virginia, and Bradley (Sherry) Schumacher of Mount Morris, grandchildren; Jodi (Kurt) Goeddeke, Joe (Jamie Curatola) Harris, Amy (Rob) Gilbert, Michael (Jessica) Gilbert, Kristina (Christopher) Ley, Ryan Schumacher, Logan Schumacher, Corey Pankhurst, and Nik (Lysa) Pankhurst, Great Grandchildren; Waylon, Jacob, Paxton, Xavier, Brayden, Aaliyah, Oakley, Xairyn, Addie, Hunter, Brantley, Jackson, Emma, Brooklyn, Cora, Makayla, and Zoey; and sibling, Bert (Judy) Himes of Byron and Gardia (Herb) Thurow of Woodstock.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings James Himes and Bernice Hitchcock.

Funeral service was at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th Street, Oregon, Illinois with the Rev. Andrew Kayes pastor of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Paynes Point officiating. Visitation was from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
