Oregon Junior High bowling teams compete at IESA Sectional in Dixon

The Oregon Junior High boys and girls bowling teams competed in the IESA Sectional bowling tournament at Plum Hollow Family Center on April 13. The Oregon boys team finished in third place with 1,869 pins, led by second place individual place winner Ethan Rowe with a 552 series (217,169,166). All four bowlers finished in the top 23 including Asher Kramer, 13th with a 461, Layne Newberry, 19th with a 436 and Diego Hernandez, 23rd with a 420.

The Oregon girls team finished in second place with 1,435 pins, led by seventh place individual place winner Abi Kalnins with a 424 series (136,121,167) and ninth place medalist Carli Bailey with a 400 series.  Also bowling was Savannah Nagy with a 310 series and Whitley Key with a 301 series. Both teams advanced to the IESA State Finals April 19th & 20th at Joliet Town & Country Lanes.

Polo softball plays doubleheader with Milledgeville

The Polo High School varsity softball team played a doubleheader against Milledgeville on Saturday, April 13. The Lady Marcos lost the first game 11-10 before falling 13-11 in the second game. Karlea Frey hit three home runs across both games.

In the first game, Karlea Frey had three hits including two home runs, a single and four RBIs. Sydnei Rahn had a single and a double, while Allissa Marschang had a single and one RBI. 

Cheyenna Wilkins had a single and Izabella Witkowski had a single and one RBI. Camrynn Jones was the starting pitcher, pitching three and one-third innings with four strikeouts. Karlea Frey came in as relief and pitched three innings.

In the second game, Sydnei Rahn had four hits including two singles and two doubles with four RBIs. Izabella Witkowski had 2 singles and one RBI, while Karlea Frey had one single and another home run with one RBI.

Camrynn Jones had two singles and Allissa Marschang had one single and one double with three RBIs. Grace Mitake had two singles, while Cheyenna Wilkins had two singles and Aylivia Danekas had a single. Cheyenna Wilkins pitched five and two-thirds innings with eight strikeouts.

Oregon softball shuts out Forreston

The Oregon High School varsity softball team scored a 15-0 win over Forreston on Saturday, April 13. The Hawks were led by senior catcher Sarah Stevens and shortstop Gracen Pitts. Pitts had two hits and Stevens had a clutch two-out, two-run double in the fourth to propel Oregon to a 10-run inning. 

Brooke Halverson added two hits and two RBIs and also pitched a four inning shutout, striking out five in the process. Lead off batting speedster Abree Barker was on base four times and Madi Shaffer also had two hits for the Hawks, who earned their seventh win.
