Police Reports

On Feb. 2 at approximately 2:39 p.m. deputies responded to the intersection of Freeport Road and Illinois Route 52 for the report of a two-vehicle accident between a truck and a semi. Upon further investigation it was learned the pickup truck drove through the stop sign and impacted with the semi. Driver of the pickup truck, Joseph Emmerson, age age 52 of Rockford, was cited for disregarding a stop sign. No injuries were sustained from the accident. Ogle County Deputies were assisted by Polo EMS, Ogle County Emergency Management, and Polo Police Department.

On Jan. 30 at approximately 8:47 p.m. deputies responded to the intersection of Illinois Route 251 and Illinois Route 64 for a reported two-vehicle crash. After a brief investigation, it was determined that a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup, driven by Daniel Miller, 75, of Abbotsford, Wisconsin, was westbound on Illinois Route 64 and disregarded the stop sign at Illinois Route 251. A Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by Priscilla Rodriguez, 38, of Rockford, was southbound on Illinois Route 251 and was struck in the intersection on the driver's side by the Ram pickup. Rodriguez was extricated from her vehicle and transported to a local hospital by Rochelle Fire for suspected non-life-threatening injuries. Miller was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and was released on scene by medical personnel. Miller shall appear in court at a later date. Ogle County Deputies were assisted by the Illinois State Police, Lynn-Scott-Rock Fire and Rochelle Fire. 

On Jan. 26 at 7:30 a.m. deputies were dispatched to the area of South Center Road and East Illinois Route 38 for the report of a school bus on fire.  The bus had only three occupants at the time of the fire. All occupants of the bus were evacuated prior to deputies’ arrival and there were no injuries. The school bus belonged to Illinois Central School Bus company that is contracted through the Rochelle School Districts. After a brief investigation, it was learned that a malfunction caused a small fire in the undercarriage of the bus where it was contained. Ogle County Sheriff's deputies were assisted by Rochelle and Flagg Center Fire.

On Jan. 23 at 11:58 a.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 8,000 block of North Kishwaukee Road.  As a result, Karina F. Canizal, 34, of Rockford was arrested for driving while license revoked. Canizal was additionally issued citations for operating a motor vehicle with registration/suspended, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and possession of cannabis/improper container/driver. Canizal was transported to the Ogle County Jail and released on a notice to appear with a future court date.

On Jan. 20 at approximately 5:08 a.m. deputies responded to a car in the ditch at the intersection of Eagle Point Road and Wilson Mill Road. After investigation, deputies placed Michael Geary, 30, of Polo under arrest for aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol. Geary was additionally issued citations for no valid license, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, disobeying a stop sign, and improper lane usage. Geary was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was later released on a notice to appear with a future court date. 

On Jan. 16 at approximately 2:10 p.m. Kristopher Lowery, 29, of Rochelle, was arrested for an outstanding no bond Ogle County warrant for suspended registration. Lowery was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he will be held pending an appearance before a judge.

On Jan. 12 at 5 p.m. deputies responded to 100 block of North Illinois Route 251 for a single-vehicle rollover. After a brief investigation it was learned the driver, Alondra Villa-Diaz, 25, of Davis Junction was traveling northbound, spun out and rolled over in the west ditch. Villa-Diaz and a passenger, Andrea Lopez, 23, of Davis Junction, were transported to Rochelle Community Hospital with suspected minor injuries. Deputies were assisted by Lynn-Scott-Rock EMS.

On Jan. 10 at approximately 9:20 a.m. deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident with an injury at the intersection of Mulford Road and Illinois Route 72.  After investigation, deputies learned that a black Hyundai passenger car driven by Briann Mccain-Bell, 19, of Rockford was traveling southbound on Mulford Road while approaching the Illinois Route 72 stop intersection. A black Peterbilt semi-truck tractor with a trailer of livestock, driven by Rick Phipps, 59, of Cannelton, Indiana was traveling eastbound on Illinois Route 72 approaching the Mulford Road intersection. The Hyundai then traveled through the intersection southbound without coming to a stop at the stop sign. The Peterbilt semi was unable to avoid the Hyundai and struck the front passenger side of the vehicle. The Peterbilt semi then traveled off of the south side of the roadway before striking a telephone pole and breaking it in half before coming to rest. The Peterbilt sustained heavy front-end damage and the Hyundai sustained heavy front-end damage. Mccain-Bell was transported to St. Anthony's Medical center for minor injuries by Stillman Valley EMS/Fire. Mccain-Bell was later issued citations for failure to yield at a stop intersection and too fast for conditions. Monroe Center EMS/Fire and COMED also assisted with the accident. 

On Jan. 5 at approximately 1:05 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Rock Road and Mud Creek Road. After investigation, deputies placed Ricky Logan, 20, of Martinsville, Indiana, under arrest for an active Lee County contempt of court traffic warrant. Logan was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.

On Jan. 2 at 1:53 a.m. deputies, with the assistance of Illinois State Police, conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 39 southbound and Illinois Route 64. After a brief investigation, Keion Anderson, 27, of Sycamore, was arrested for driving while license suspended. Anderson was released with a notice to appear with a future court date. Anderson was also issued citations for expired registration and inoperable registration light.

On Dec. 29 at 1:37 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop at South 7th Street and Lakeview Drive in Rochelle. After an investigation, Israel Ibarra, 35, from Rockford was arrested for no valid driver's license. Ibarra was released from the scene on a notice to appear.

On Dec. 22 at approximately 2:19 a.m., Deputies responded to the 200 block of East Hillcrest Drive, Byron, in response to a 9-1-1 hang-up. After an investigation, Charles L Macias, age 49, of Rockford, was placed under arrest for an outstanding warrant for unlawful use of a weapon – no FOID, which was issued by the Rockford Police Department. Macias was transported to the Ogle County Jail. All subjects are presumed innocent.

On Dec. 15 at approximately 7:35 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 8,000 block of North Illinois Route 251. After an investigation, Armando Del Carmen, 32, of Beloit, was placed under arrest for driving while license suspended. Del Carmen was also cited for speeding, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and a child restraint violation. Del Carmen was released on a notice to appear.

On Dec. 12 at approximately 9:33 a.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop at Illinois Route 2 and Cultra Road. After a brief investigation, Refugio Hernandez-Molina, 34, of Rockford, was arrested for no valid driver's license. Hernandez was additionally cited for registration violations and no insurance. Hernandez was released on a notice to appear.

On Dec. 8 at approximately 9:10 a.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 88 at mile marker 76 on a blue Honda Pilot. After a brief investigation, deputies arrested Marlon Exequiel Matute-Martinez, 24, of Mason City, Iowa for no driver’s license. Matute-Martinez was taken into custody without incident and released on a notice to appear. Matute-Martinez was additionally cited for improper turn signal.

On Dec. 5 at approximately 12:26 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 7,000 block of North Illinois Route 251. After an investigation, deputies placed Rolando Cruz, 60, of Hillcrest under arrest for driving while license revoked. Cruz was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was issued his citations for driving while license revoked, no insurance and suspended registration. Cruz was booked in the jail and released on a notice to appear with a future court date.

On Dec. 1 at approximately 10:33 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop at 328 E. Illinois Route 38. After a brief investigation, deputies arrested Jessica S. Parra Villa, 20, of Rochelle, for driving while license suspended. Parra Villa was also cited for expired registration. Parra Villa was released on a notice to appear.

On Nov. 27 at approximately 11:43 p.m. deputies initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Milledgeville Road and Wilson Mill Road. After further investigation David Bergeson, 41, of Polo, was placed under arrest for driving while license suspended and an outstanding Lee County warrant. Bergeson was also cited for suspended registration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Bergeson was transported to the Ogle County Jail, where he was held in lieu of bond on the Lee County warrant. Bergeson was released on a notice to appear on all Ogle County charges.
