MARENGO — The Stillman Valley High School varsity baseball team upset top-seeded Marengo to win the IHSA 2A Marengo Regional Championship on Saturday, May 18. The Cardinals opened the tournament with a 7-4 win over Sandwich before defeating the Indians 11-4 on Saturday to advance to the sectional tournament. Stillman Valley is now 22-12 overall on the season.
The team includes Isaiah Herebia, Luke Lichty, Keaton Rauman, Kaenan McDevitt, Carson Showers, Aiden Cicogna, Charlie Drake, Braden Engel, Jackson Musial, Jaxon Barrett, Noah Latham, KJ Chavers, Ryan Rueff, Malachi Bagg, Callan Farris, Sebastian Pasillas, Alec Medford, Parker Simms, Tony Weimeschkirch, Robbie Thurow and Luke Tompkins. The team is coached by Scott Wilhite, Lucas Hunt, Devin Standard and David Wilhite.
