Oregon boys bowling competes in Rockford

The Oregon boys bowling team was in action on Friday, Nov. 24 at Don Carter Lanes, Rockford for the NIBPA Invitational, consisting of NIC-10 and Northern Illinois Bowling Conference schools. In the 13-team field Oregon finished in fifth place with a five-game total of 4,862.

The Hawks were led by eighth-place overall finisher Gavvin Surmo with a 1,077 series (204,216,209,226,222) followed closely by 10th-place finisher Brady Davis with a 1,060 series. Completing the varsity group was Matthew Stahl with a 930 series, RJ Keene with a 923 series and Codey Dunbar with a 872 series.

Oregon also entered three teams into the 20-team JV Division with Oregon Red finishing in fifth place, only 45 pins out of second. The JV was led by eighth-place finisher Aiden Currier with a 921 series, 15th place Caleb Ehrler 850 series and 22nd-place finisher Immanuel Arellano.

Oregon bowling teams host double dual match

The Oregon bowling teams hosted a five-person team double dual match in Mt Morris at Town & Country Lanes on Saturday, Nov. 25. In the initial match Oregon defeated West Central 2,982-2,161.  The Hawks were led by Gavvin Surmo with a 646 series (214,245,187) followed by Matthew Stahl's 635 series, RJ Keene's 602 series, Brady Davis' 592 series, Codey Dunbar's 290 series (two games) and Ethan Smice's 217 game.

In the second match Oregon defeated Abingdon 2,898-2,387.  The Hawks were led by Brady Davis with a 650 series (189,226,235) followed closely by Gavvin Surmo's 637 series, RJ Keene's 613 series, Matthew Stahl's 519 series, Aiden Currier's 186 game, Ethan Smice 's164 game and Codey Dunbar's 129 game.

The Oregon girls do not have enough to compete as a team this season, they did have three girls bowl in an exhibition contest with both Abingdon and West Central. In the West Central contest the girls were led by Ahren Howey with a 338 series, followed by Katy Miller's 287 series and Destiny Donaldson with a 251 series.  In the Abingdon contest Oregon was led by Ahren Howey with a 410 series, followed by Katy Miller with a 329 series and Destiny Donaldson with a 249 series.

Oregon boys bowling defeats South Beloit

The Oregon boys bowling team traveled to Viking Lanes, South Beloit on Nov. 27 and the varsity delivered a 3,416-2,970 victory. Oregon was led by RJ Keene with a 645 series (146,243,256), followed by Codey Dunbar's 577 series, Brady Davis' 562 series, Ethan Smice's 547 series, Gavvin Surmo's 545 series and Matthew Stahl's 540 series.

The overall team effort overcame two outstanding performances by the Sobos: James Strong's 700 series and Reece Binder's 689 series. The win raised the season record to 5-1. The JV also had an excellent night, winning its match by over 1,100 pins, 3,128-1,958. The JV was led by Aiden Currier with a 599 series, Zakk West with a 567 series and Caleb Ehrler with a 549 series. 

The JV team remains undefeated on the season. The JV2 also bowled and Ivan Hernandez rolled the second highest score of any Oregon bowler on the night, on any level, with a 624 series.
