EAST PEORIA — The Byron Middle School track and field team sent several athletes to the IESA State Championships at East Peoria High School.
Among the medal winners were Landon Bonvallet, who set a new school record to take fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.74 seconds. Bonvallet tied for fourth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.72 meters and finished sixth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.98 seconds.
Brady Kann finished sixth in the discus throw with a mark of 42.66 meters, while the eighth-grade 800-meter relay team (Amaya Gallegos, Brenna Hubbard, Aniaha Alvarez and Lucy Gura) took eighth with a school-record time of 1:54.71.
