SPRINGFIELD — The Oregon High School varsity wrestling team finished eighth out of 60 schools in the 2023 Abe’s Rumble in Springfield. Oregon opened the tournament with a 48-21 win over Shelbyville and a 57-10 win over Ottawa Marquette before falling against No. 14 Roxana.
The Hawks continued the tournament with a 54-12 win over Dwight before beating Clifton Central 42-34 to guarantee a top-16 finish. Oregon clinched a top-8 finish with a 39-36 win over Oakwood, but fell against Porta, Vandalia and Lena-Winslow to take eighth overall.
