The Ogle County Republican Party recently hosted their Annual Draw Down at Kennay Farms Distillery in Rochelle. 

The Eagle’s Nest Art Gallery recently benefited from retired Northern Illinois University geology professor, Jonathan Berg’s donation of three paintings. 

On Saturday, March 29 at 10 a.m. at the Oregon Depot, the “Those Were The Days” speaker will be Jon Barnhart. Jon will talk about his rock farm three miles southeast of Oregon that he and his wife, Cindy, have owned since 2005.

Five Ogle County 4-H local youth competed in the Northwest Regional Competition for Illinois 4-H Horse Bowl and Hippology earlier this month and were rewarded for their efforts. This event was held at Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon.

The Ogle County 4-H Federation hosted its annual 4-H Penny Carnival at the Blackhawk Center in Oregon on March 8.

On March 11, the Oregon Park District approved the purchase of a new playground for Park East, marking a significant step in the park's redevelopment.

The board also took the opportunity to recognize Commissioner Dan Engelkes for his 13 years of dedicated service. Mr. Engelkes' term will expire at the end of April, and he has chosen not to seek re-election.

A cherished tradition came to a close as the Leaf River Alumni Organization hosted the 50th and final Alumni Basketball Event at the former Leaf River High School on March 1 at the River Valley Complex.

The Oregon Park District Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday, Feb. 11 for their regularly scheduled monthly meeting.  Executive Director Erin Folk updated the board on the district’s January financials, participation milestones, and the Board of Commissioners approved the monthly treasurer’s report. 

RCH Registered Dieticians, Janelle Stein and Luis Cano are offering a series of classes called Lifestyle Balance, targeting those with prediabetes. These classes have been modified from the original year-long CDC led National Prediabetes Prevention Program and condensed into 12 weeks.

Hands On Oregon (HOO) is pleased to have donated $2,000 to the Oregon Junior/Senior High School Transitional Learning program. This program serves to enrich the lives of junior and senior students with learning challenges.
